1898 Tram Shelter demolished at Norbreck

Remains of the demolished 1898 Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramroad shelter at Norbeck
The 1898 Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramroad shelter at Norbeck has been demolished over a two day period as part of the upgrade of the tramway. In the above picture the remains of the demolished shelter are seen being loaded into a large dump truck. The demolition company plan to move up to Rossall on Wednesday 14th, to demolish the old Tramroad shelter at the Rossall School stop.

  1. Very very sad. I have to say, I'm not a fan of this so-called "upgrade" of the tramway. It seems more like a downgrade to waste money and destroy the unique features of Blackpool....

  2. I suppose people might have said the same thing in the 1930s when these new fangled green and cream streamlined trams were introduced. Time marches on unfortunately, and none of us like change, me included.

  3. I agree with you both.. change isn't always for the better. It seems to me that with all this modernisation of the trams and the promenade Blackpool is losing it's 'soul' if you know what I mean.
