The official Launch Day of the new tramway upgrade took place today on a rather drab and dreary rain soaked morning which saw the first significant precipitation that Blackpool has had for weeks. Flexity 008 was the tram chosen for the event, loading up with invited guests and dignitaries at Starr Gate before proceeding to the Tower where speeches took place and more guests were embarked. After a further stop at Cleveleys, 008 reached Fleetwood where the party decamped to the North Euston Hotel for lunch. No sooner had the formal proceedings finished at Fleetwood when the sun decided to put in an appearance, and the rest of the afternoon was glorious!  |
