646 after vandals smashed several side windows and both pieces of the windscreen at one end of the tram
It has been reported in todays Gazette that Centenary 646, which is stored in the car park of the Paul Gaunt furniture warehouse near Blackpool Airport, was attacked by vandals last night. Several windows on both sides of the tram and one end have been smashed, an attempt had been made to set the tram on fire in an earlier attack last week. This incident highlights the dangers of storing preserved vehicles in the open. Over the years quite a few historic buses and trams have had to be scrapped after suffering extensive vandal attacks while being kept in open storage.
