LTT Brush car 632 loaded up and almost ready to leave

LTT owned Brush car 632 left Rigby Road today, hot on the heels of PW car 259 that left yesterday. 632 was destined for the same temporary outdoor accommodation at the old Duple factory site that 259 was moved to earlier in the day.

Brush 624 move - Day 2

259 had to travel along Burton Road and round the back of the Dennis Eagle factory to access the storage yard

After discovering that it was not possible to get PW car 259 into the planned undercover accommodation in Marton, the tram and low-loader were parked up in Brinwell Road for the night. The following morning, after a new strategy had been formulated, it was decided to deliver 259 to temporary secure outdoor storage on the site of the old Duple factory on Burton Road.

Rocket receives adverts

The Rocket has received advertising on the seaward side of the tram for MPM North West

The Rocket on Gynn Square roundabout has received advertising on one side of the tram for MPM North West, who are the company currently repairing and repainting Blackpool Tower. A series of faces have been put in each side window of the tram which are backlit at night.

Lancastrian Transport Trust owned Brush Permanent Way car 259 (formerly 624 in the passenger fleet) left Rigby Road depot this afternoon for secure storage in the Marton area of Blackpool. For the first time in several years Scotts of Derbyshire were not involved in the tram move, the company undertaking the job being Allelys Heavy Haulage from Warwickshire.

Topless Routemaster

Former Green Line coach Routemaster RCL 2243 in use on the Seafront 12 service near South Pier

Former London Transport Green Line coach RCL 2243 is seen passing the Lucky Star amusement arcade near South Pier on the Seafront 12 on Saturday. This Routemaster is currently on hire to Classic Bus North West from Routemaster Buses at Crewe, it was formerly a convertible open-top vehicle, but is now used in purely open-top form. RCL 2243 was previously owned by London Coaches and used on sightseeing operations in London before coming north. Due to some buses being away on wedding contracts (see photo of RML 2391), preserved Blackpool PD3 No 529 made a rare appearance on the Seafront 12 service on 1st September.

Pimp My Tram

Blinged up Brush car 627 glows in the fading light opposite the Pleasure Beach

Looking a bit like a pimped up custom car with its blue fluorescent strip lights underneath, Brush car 627 shows its lighting off after dusk on its short display track opposite the Pleasure Beach.

First night of Illumination Tours

On a notice published back in April, the original plan was for the Heritage Tours to switch to evening running from 31st August, starting at 5pm. A subsequent notice was issued saying there would be no tours of any sort on 31st August (Illuminations switch-on night). Yesterday (1st September), no Heritage Tours ran at all, only the three illuminated trams were out on tours, beginning their tours of the Illuminations at 8pm.
